III. provision of the website and creation of log files
When you access this website, your IP address is temporarily stored by the server of RWTH Aachen University. According to the DSGVO, the IP address belongs to personal data. The temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable delivery of the website to the user’s computer. For this purpose, the IP address of the user must remain stored for the duration of the session.
Each time our website is called up, the browser used on the end device automatically sends data and information from the computer system of the calling computer to the server of RWTH Aachen University and temporarily stores it in a so-called server log file. We have no influence on this.

The collection of data for the provision of the website and the storage of the data in log files is absolutely necessary for the operation of the website. Consequently, there is no possibility of objection on the part of the user.
V. Purpose of data collection, deletion
The data mentioned under III. are collected so that the website can be presented in an optimized manner and to ensure the security of the information technology systems. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. This is the case after one week at the latest.

Apart from the data mentioned under III. whose collection and short-term storage is unavoidable for technical reasons, no data is collected or stored on this website. The Chair of Organization will neither store nor process such data.
IX. E-Mail Contact
If you contact us by e-mail, the information you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing the request and for possible follow-up questions in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) DSGVO. In addition, we store your data for the defense of legal claims and due to legal retention periods.

X. Google Maps
The RWTH Aachen University website offers the possibility to display geographical information for contact and journey purposes in the RWTH Aachen University Navigator. The Navigator is based on the Google Maps API, which is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland. By calling up the map service, Google can determine your IP address and the language of the system, as well as various browser-specific details.
The requested geographical positions from the menu of the navigator are transmitted directly to the service. When calling up the page with a GPS-enabled device, the location position may also be transmitted. No other personal data is transferred to Google.
Google uses cookies. The data processing operations as well as the purposes of the processing can be requested and viewed directly at Google.
